Motherhood: Month 2

First of all, how in the heck is my baby 2 months old?! Little Ava Grace truly is the sweetest thing and we fall more in love with her every single day. I can’t believe I’ve been a momma for over 2 months now! Time is flying and this is the trickiest and tiring, yet most rewarding job I’ve ever had. Sean and I are getting SO excited for her first Christmas. The holidays are so special to us and we can’t wait to start new memories with Ava.

Here’s a little overview of her at 2 months, and I apologize for how “mom” it sounds. Most importantly, I want to do these posts so I can always look back and remember the changes in her life month-to-month. So excuse me while I gush, ramble and go into far more detail than you probably care to read!

Biggest Changes:

Her personality! The past week or so she has started to socially smile. She LOVES when we talk to her and it’s the sweetest face I’ve ever seen. She also loves tummy time, but only when she’s laying on mommy and daddy. The last change we’ve seen is that she loves to kick when she’s on her play mat. She currently has this one, but I am thinking of also getting her this one.

6:30-7:30 – Ava is up and ready to eat.

8:00-10:00 – We’ll go for a walk, play on her play mat or in her mamaRoo. If we’re having a lazy day, we spend this time having morning snuggles. I love holding her and just talking to her and seeing her smiles and coo’s.

10:30 – Feed

11:00 – 2:00 We’ll typically go out for any errands. I refuse to drive in any type of rush hour…especially in Houston…so I’ll try and run all my errands in the middle of the day. She loves her car seat and typically falls asleep within 10 minutes of being in the car, so she takes on long nap around this time.

2:30 – Feed and then same routine as the morning.

5:00/6:00 – She’ll usually take one small nap until dad gets home.

6:30 – Feed and then play time with dad. If it’s a bath night, we’ll bathe her and then get ready to watch our nightly show….usually Shark Tank.

9:30- Last feed of the night and then sleep.

What size clothing is she in?

She is still mostly in newborn clothes, but is starting to wear some 0-3 month!

Are you breastfeeding?

I’m currently exclusively pumping. She had to have bottles in the NICU and while she was there, we didn’t want to stress her out by trying something new, so we just stuck with the bottles. She loves it and it makes feedings in public easy [kudos to all the mommas out there that do this].

How much is she eating?

This girl can EAT. She eats between 4-5 oz per feeding.

What is her favorite swaddle?

We have been through several swaddles, but this one is by far her favorite. She is a self-soother by using her hands, so she’s really adapted well to it. We tried this swaddle and this one, but Ava didn’t like either. In the SwaddleMe, she would break out of the bottom by pushing her feet out. We then tried the HALO sleepsack since it had a zipper, but as the smallest size is a small (10-18 lbs), it swallowed her. We’re going to try this one again once she’s a little bigger.

Does she like bath time?

This is a little hit and miss. She has started to like it more and will actually sit in the tub and look around. However, when I get her out of the tub, she HATES it. But who am I kidding, I hate getting out of the tub as well because it’s cold. Once she’s a little burrito in her towel, she’s back to being content.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me. Have a great Wednesday!

XOXO, Katelyn
